The afterlife is no heaven where you sit on clouds and play harps. Welcome to Soluna, where you pledge your loyalty for eternity into Day or Night, and with it comes responsiblities. You have a job to do in order to keep the cycle of day and night working so that the Earth Cats can continue to thrive. The rulers of each are Empress Day and Emperor Night, and there are rules to follow just as in the Earth Clans. When you pass from Earth to Soluna, when your spirit leaves it's body behind to begin anew, you will be put under the instruction of either the Queendom Of Soliel or the Kingdom of Lunaria. But, the Dark and Light don't work for free. Instead, for their service, they sap a little of each cat's aura (an invisible sort of glow around a cat that will change with emotions, some consider it your spirit or soul), but not enough to kill. However, mistakes happen, or were you to break the Pledge to the Cycle, then you would be sentenced to Scarring. If some cat were to be killed from this soul sucking, then they would become Scarred. If you were killed by accident, then you go to what Earth cats call 'StarClan'. If you were sentenced to Scarring, then you would go to what Earth Cats call 'The Place Of No Stars', or the 'Dark forest'. The Scarred bodies are made of stars and their eyes are pale gray with no pupil. If some one from the Dark or the Light needs to convey a message, they 'take over' the physical star body of a Scarred for a short period of time. The Scarred cannot walk in dreams or contact the Earth Cats in anyway without the aid of a Light or Dark Solunite (a cat from Soluna). In return, they get to live in paradise (or agony, depending if they were punished by Scarring), in payment/punishment for their death and body/crime.
